Rakhine court keeps Muslim activist behind bars

Rights groups have condemned the recent court ruling to extend the trial and detention of the Muslim lawyer and activist U Kyaw Hla Aung as "an affront to the rule of law." Sittwe Distrct Court handed down the ruling on August 4 to the 74-year-old, who is a senior figure in the Sittwe Rohingya community and has been held without bail since July 15, 2013.
